UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development On May 17-19, 2021, the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development took place.
In light of the pressing environmental challenges facing the world, the Conference created momentum for a new ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) Framework for 2030, which aims to build a more just and sustainable world by strengthening ESD to build education systems that help learners of all ages to make a significant contribution to a sustainable society and a healthy planet.
The conference ended with the adoption of the Berlin Declaration on Education for Sustainable Development.
This event raised global awareness of ESD. Participants, including representatives of participating countries, recognize the importance of ESD and intensify efforts within their professional capacity to address pressing global issues, in particular climate change and biodiversity loss.
