Russian National Unity Forum

Russian National Unity Forum took place from 19th till 22nd of October 2016 in Perm. The main theme of the forum was the formation of a unified national policy on the territory of Russia.

The event was organized by the Federal Agency for Nationalities, the Council on International Relations under the Russian President, the Administration of the Governor of the Perm region and the All-Russian public organization “Assembly of peoples of Russia.”

The representatives of 71 regions of Russia, more than 800 participants took part in the Forum.

The business program of the forum was very busy. At numerous sites the following discussions were held: problems of development and preservation of the languages in Russia, issues of adaptation and integration of migrants. The users of system of monitoring the interethnic relations state shared their experience. But perhaps one of the main events was the extended meeting of the commission of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation. The participants were united in their conclusions: the strengthening of inter-ethnic relations is the result of integrated efforts of society, the state, civil society institutes and the expert community represented by scientific institutions and members of civil society organizations.

Nigmatullina T.A., the Head of the UNESCO and UNEVOC Centre in the Russian Federation housed by the Bashkir Institute of Social Technologies, was also invited to the forum. She introduced her project “Children’s Public Legal Chamber,” which includes the works of Children’s Assembly of Ethnicities of Russia. The project caused the interest by formulating the problem of children and youth legal education, and by the technologies that are used in the project. As a result, the project won first place in the competition “Best educational project” and was praised by the scientific and teaching community.

Summing up, we emphasize that the All-Russian Forum of National Unity was a unique platform for the experience exchange and informal communication, for the dialogue between the authorities and society and for demonstration of the successful implementation of scientific development. As Vladimir Y. Zorin once said: “…the inter-ethnic peace is an equal triangle. One side is the legal framework, the second one is the executive branch and the third one is institutions of civil society.” The Forum gave momentum to new ideas and developments, technologies and techniques.
