On April 3, 2024, with the aim of popularizing scientific knowledge and activating research activities among students and faculty of the RIU of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, a roundtable discussion titled «Modern Opportunities and Prospects for the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies» was organized at the «Lyalya-Tyulpan» complex. The main speaker was Almaz Railevich Iskhakov, candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and leading specialist in artificial intelligence at the International UNEVOC Center of the Bashkir Institute of Social Technologies.

During the lively discussion, the expert spoke about the history of the issue and the essence of the concept of «artificial intelligence», providing examples of its application in modern realities. Together with the audience, they discussed questions such as:

• How can the personal qualities of its developer be reflected in the work of AI?
• Can AI develop feelings similar to human ones (like sympathy, antipathy, friendship)? Is it possible to program this?
• Is it possible to program AI with the ability to make moral choices or to believe?
• How will matters of legal regulation of AI application be addressed in the future, both within a single state and in international relations?
• What risks can AI pose to the global security of humanity?

Participants of the event noted that the declared topic is of great interest, as, among other things, it is linked to issues of morality and faith. The parties also noted their willingness to combine the efforts of the scientific and spiritual communities in search of new ways to use rapidly developing information technologies for noble purposes.
