On December 7, 2024, a solemn event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society in Bashkortostan (hereinafter referred to as the RGS) took place in Ufa.
Teachers and students of our institute could not stay away: this is a celebration of our RGS Youth Club, the purpose of which is for students to study the geography of our country, including the Bashkortostan region, its historical and cultural heritage as a matter of national pride.
The Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Faritovich Khabirov congratulated the staff of the Regional Office, noting that «The Russian Geographical Society has been uniting people of different generations, professions and interests for many decades, who worthily carry out the mission of preserving the rich natural and cultural heritage of our country, implement important research and educational projects. The branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Bashkortostan is one of the first in the country to be awarded the Large Silver Medal of the Russian Geographical Society. We will continue to support important initiatives and projects of the society that open hospitable Bashkortostan and Russia to the whole world».
In their congratulations, the speakers noted that:
– The Regional Office has played a truly unique role in nature conservation, the development of geography, climatology, meteorology and other related sciences in our Republic, has organized and participated in numerous expeditions, has done a lot for broad public education, becoming an example of an extremely effective and viable public initiative.
– The history of the Regional Branch of the RGS in the Republic of Bashkortostan is inseparable from the history of the whole country, and all those involved in Society form its individuality.
– The community of geographical and related sciences has an atmosphere of healthy adventurism, as well as a thirst for discovery and scientific creativity.
The achievements of the anniversaries in recent years have not been forgotten: the transfer of the Askyn ice cave and its arrangement to the management of the RGS of Bashkortostan; the creation of the 14-kilometer hiking route «Zilim – Askyn», connecting the Kinderlin and Askyn caves; the projects «Ural Leopard», «Bashkir Circumnavigation», etc.
A gift to the anniversaries was a jump to the North Pole from a height of 10 thousand meters, which was made by Alexander Lynnik, Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan, a general aviation instructor pilot, and his associates.
For active work and popularization of geography, members of the Russian Geographical Society, teachers of the region received awards: membership cards, tokens and badges for passing the routes «Ural Leopard» and «Bashkir Circumnavigation», as well as Letters of Thanks and Certificates of Honor.
We congratulate all employees of the Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society in Bashkortostan with their anniversary and wish them new achievements and discoveries!
