The First International Geological Championship “GeoVision” was held in the Republic of Bashkortostan from September 16 to 22, 2023. Its purpose was to popularize geological professions in society and to demonstrate the importance of geology for the study and growth of mineral reserves for the sustainable development of states, as well as for the formation of horizontal links between young specialists from different countries.

The event was organized within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology, which took place in our country on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. A wide range of initiatives was aimed at strengthening the role of science and technology in solving the most important tasks of the development of society and the country.

More than 120 students of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions took part in the championship. Ufa, ANO DO “Patriot Park” named after the Hero of the Russian Federation M.V. Serafimov became a place of attraction for young industry specialists from 13 regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The geography of the Championship included such cities as Ust-Kamenogorsk (Kazakhstan), Krasny Luch (LNR), Vladivostok, Grozny, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Magnitogorsk, Oktyabrsky, Miass, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Samara, St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Ufa.

During the week of the event, participants passed 12 geological competitions covering all areas of Earth sciences and practical skills that future geologists should possess: “Geological route”, “Shlich testing”, “Geological section”, “Mineralogy and Petrography”, “Paleontology”, “Radiometry”, “Geochemistry”, “Hydrogeology”, “Testing on the basics of geological knowledge”, “The project “Excursion geological trail””, “Organization of field parking and safety”.

On the second day of the competition, the projects of the correspondence stage 12 were defended. The Projects prepared by the participants before the start of the Championship had following topics:
How to motivate students to study Geology for industrial purposes?
Solving personnel problems in the Geological Industry.
Popularization of Geology in society: an informative project.
A project on Social Geology.
Innovative Russian technologies and IT solutions in the geological industry.
